Instructions of Blessed John the Carpathian
Saint John the Carpathian lived in the 5th
century on the island of Carpathia, which is located between Rhodes and Crete.
Nothing is known of the location where he performed his deeds of self-denial or
anything about his life. From India, he wrote to monks some comforting words —
consisting of 100 instructions — where he calls upon them to bear sorrows and
temptations with fortitude.
